Storyboarding..

Once deciding on doing a film I began by drawing up a story board and some text that I wanted to include.

These are very rough and in hindsight I should have made them more detailed and included camera angles etc but I was on a tighter time schedule because I changed my proposal and company very last minute. However I was clear on what I wanted to film and what text I wanted to include into each scene.. which I have written down on another piece of paper. I started filming a scene with a uni friend however I was finding it very difficult to getting people to commit. Due to this pretty large problem I decided to book a train to go home for 3-4 days to film it all, knowing that it would get done.

Field – Language Environments

Week 2

Week two consisted of workshops and look at the body as an environment. We looked at quite a few ways of creating art and language with our bodies. Examples such as creating sounds, words/letters and art with our bodies. I found that working with body and sounds was quite embarrassing and it required a fair amount of expression therefore I personally decided to eliminate this as an option for my final piece. Then after creating shapes, letters and words with our bodies we went on to paint on a large scale with our bodies. We incorporated a mixture of drawing and words (which we had previously experimented with), as well as the use of a variety of medias. Being a graphic designer I noticed that I found it quite hard to let lose on all of the different papers (as did the other graphic designers). However, after photographing the outcome up close I found some really visually interesting sections.

I particularly liked the typography and typography/colour combinations that came from this large shared piece of work. I did in fact take inspiration from it as it provoked my use of wire for my final piece. I thought that the thin continuous style writing would work really well with wire!
As well as this we had a paper making workshop:

I found paper making really interesting especially as I had no idea of how it was done. Although I didn’t use this for my final piece I made some more paper for fun and good practice for possible future projects. The plus side also was that it wasn’t particularly difficult therefore to could make endless amounts.

I will add some images of the paper outcomes as soon as possible!!
